Xabi Alonso leaves Chelsea star's agents 'in fear' after Arsenal defeat

Xabi Alonso has left a Chelsea star's agent fearing that the player might struggle for regular first-team game time this season following Sunday's defeat at Arsenal Estevao's camp are worried that Xabi Alonso will continue to use him at right wing-back for Chelsea, it has been claimed. The 19-year-old, who joined the Blues in a £29million deal from Palmeiras last summer, made 38 appearances during his first season at Stamford Bridge, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. But Estevao's game time has been reduced so far this term following Xabi Alonso's appointment as the club's first-team manager. Alonso has started with a three-at-the-back formation in each of his first two Premier League matches with two defensive-minded midfielders, two attacking midfielders and one centre forward. Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, who signed for the Blues in a club record £117million deal earlier this summer, have operated in the No.10 roles with Joao Pedro up front. ...

Alejandro Garnacho's message to Bruno Fernandes speaks volumes after Arsenal defeat

Former Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, now at Chelsea, has responded to Bruno Fernandes' Instagram post following United's thrilling 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium

Alejandro Garnacho has reached out to Bruno Fernandes on social media after Manchester United's thrilling 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Patrick Dorgu netted a stunning goal to put United ahead in the second half, following Bryan Mbeumo's equaliser.

Arsenal managed to draw level, but Matheus Cunha restored United's advantage shortly after entering the fray with a brilliant strike from outside the area. Interim manager Michael Carrick has enjoyed a flying start to his temporary tenure, securing wins against both Manchester City and Arsenal.

Following the match, United captain Fernandes posted several images from the game, including one alongside goalscorer Dorgu, who put in an impressive display. He captioned it: "Ballon D'orgu," accompanied by a lovestruck emoji.

This drew a reaction from Garnacho, who commented: "T best."

Garnacho seems to have maintained close ties with United since his £40million summer switch to Chelsea, ending his three-year stint at the club.

Dorgu also engaged with the post, responding with "Nice assist," followed by laughing emojis. Cunha then praised the Portuguese midfielder as the "IQ man."

Additionally, Mbeumo, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Manuel Ugarte and Leny Yoro all showed their appreciation by liking the post.

Chelsea's Cole Palmer, who has been linked as a potential United target, also indicated his support by liking it. Speaking after the match, Carrick urged his side to keep their feet on the ground, emphasising that a long season still lies ahead.

"I'm not getting carried away," Carrick told reporters. "We've got some big games, bigger games, coming up, because every next game is the bigger game.

"So we're not getting carried away. We've got really important things coming up that we need to keep improving with.

"But there's a lot of emotion, a lot of energy and a lot of confidence that you can take from that [beating City and Arsenal], but be humble and understand how we've got these results. That's really important moving forward."

The defeat dealt a serious hammer blow to Arsenal's Premier League title aspirations. Mikel Arteta's men appeared nervous throughout and were their own worst enemy at points as United capitalised to claim an unlikely win.

Arteta held his hands up after the match and took responsibility for the loss, which closer the gap between them and Manchester City and Aston Villa to four points.
